The Hornbeam Café
The Hornbeam Centre café is open from Wednesday to Saturday (10am – 5pm) serving fresh tasty food and providing a relaxing space on a busy street corner. The café tries to promote food that's local, organic, vegetarian and reflects the different cuisines of the borough. Healthy fast food that doesn't cost the earth
Our aim is to complement the market stall which sells organic and local sustainably grown fruit and veg outside the Hornbeam every Saturday. Our volunteer chefs use the stall and the organic cooperative wholesaler Suma, as well as fresh herbs and salads grown in the borough as their main sources of ingredients to use in the cafe. Come along to enjoy
- meze plates, veggie burgers, pies, chef's specials.. from £2 - £5
- seasonal salads and soups with freshly baked bread
- handbaked cakes and biscuits
- tea, coffee, and juice
- a space to relax, meet others and find out about local social and environmental activities.
See here for this week's menu.
We are always on the look out for ideas, enthusiasm, cooks, space designers, washers, bakers.
We’d like to open the café more and work with other community groups to make better use of the Hornbeam’s great kitchen facilities. So if you are interested in sharing an idea or getting involved, come and talk to us in the café or contact the Centre.
